Respected Ramdevji Maharaj, you are undoubtedly doing a great job by teaching yoga in a simple, humorous and altruistic manner to millions of people around the world. Better still, you conduct yoga sessions for kids – for their better health and overall physical and psychological development. Children doing yoga with a great yogi like you goes into showing that beautiful things have not ceased to happen in this beautiful world.
Yet, you have so far not mentioned how to do yoga when children are around. Granted, it’s my personal predicament to find a suitable place to do yoga, but when there are kids at home, they inevitably come around – crying, shouting, giggling, jumping! Shut the door?
They keep knocking at it, as if the yoga-doer inside is going to miss his or her plane! And preventing children from doing what they like to do - crying, shouting, giggling, jumping and knocking is not exactly what the so-called ‘grownup and responsible’ are supposed to do, what say you? I simply love anulom vilom. Five minutes of this wonderful pranayama and lo and behold! Wonders start pouring in. General wellbeing laced with freshness improves. My dilemma is: how may I do it up to five minutes? The moment I start it, I feel a little hand pulling my hand off my nose. Eyes wide open, I see my three and half year son at it! Vramari is fantabulous. Five minutes of this amazing pranayama and anyone will feel fresh as a daisy.
A never-experienced-before kind of newness burdened with positive vibes swimmingly unburdens the spirit. But how may I do that? Once into deep vramari after fighting the onslaught of oodles of mad thoughts, I realize I am not alone in simulating a bumblebee. My little niece beside me is doing ditto. When noticed, she closes her mouth with her hands, releasing some muffled peals of laughter. Kapal bhati has helped me to lose some kilos, well, you know where. Albeit magical in its efficaciousness, when kids see people doing it, it should look fairly funny; actually, it just cracks them up. Now, with kids from home and neighborhood looking at this bizarre belly movement, how can kapal bhati be practiced? But then, venerated yogiji, you and I certainly agree on one thing: only fools get worked up with kids’ activities; whatever they do and say is divine and can do oodles of good, like yoga postures and pranayama.
