Bhakti Barn and Newark Yoga Movement have teamed up again to help serve children in Newark. This past summer, Bhakti Barn (www.bhaktibarn.com) raised over $700 through their Neighborhood Warriors program for Newark Yoga Movement, a 501c3 organization bringing yoga to thousands of children in Newark. Now, the area yoga studio has opened its doors to Newark Yoga Movement for this next event.
Township resident Debby Kaminsky, founder of Newark Yoga Movement, will be teaching a donation only class open to all levels for 20 people from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Bhakti Barn. Kaminsky just returned from teaching yoga to teachers from around the state at the NJEA Convention in Atlantic City.
"My partner Chris Gatti and I love to collaborate with Debby Kaminsky and Newark Yoga Movement," said Betsy Davis, co-owner of Bhakti Barn. "We really believe in what it stands for and are happy to promote it through our studio. We invite everyone to our studio for some yoga and bling to support this cause."
Following the yoga class, doors will open to all who are interested in getting a jump-start on some holiday shopping. A complimentary breakfast will be served with goodies from The Able Baker in Maplewood.
There will be a wonderful selection of jewelry from Stella & Dot. (www.stelladot.com/gena); and 25 percent of the retail sales from Saturday will be donated to Newark Yoga Movement.
Gena Rho Smith, a Maplewood resident, yoga teacher for Newark Yoga Movement and the Stella & Dot stylist who put together the show, said, "I’ve taught for Newark Yoga Movement for the last year. It’s inspiring to see the impact on the children. I’m thrilled to do this fundraiser for the Newark Yoga Movement and Bhakti Barn is the perfect venue."
After the shopping, Davis will be teaching her regular 10 a.m. Saturday morning class. The public is invited to come for one or all. Visit the websites www.newarkyogamovement.org and www.bhaktibarn .com for more information about the event.
